What are libraries doing about, and with, artificial intelligence (AI)? That’s the question at the center of this blog.

What will you find here?

  • Examples of AI use in libraries.
  • AI Issues, challenges, and opportunities specific to libraries.
  • Relevant examples, insights, applications, and developments from the larger AI community.

About the term “artificial intelligence.

Ugh. The term “AI” has become almost meaningless through overuse and misuse. However, I’m using it here as an umbrella term for a wide variety of specific technologies such as machine learning, deep learning, expert systems, and others. Mostly I’m going to be referencing machine learning.

About me.

I’m Michael Ridley and currently I’m a Visiting Scholar at the Ryerson University Library. As part of my appointment I’m encouraging discussions about AI in an interdisciplinary context. The primary audience of this blog is the staff of the Ryerson Library. However, all are welcome.
